Transform your passion for motors and machinery into a rewarding and profitable profession with Northern's Motive Power Technician Automotive Service diploma. As an Automotive Service Technician, you'll join the Interprovincial Red Seal Program, Canada's nationwide trade certification standard.
This intensive two-year program provides practical training to prepare you for maintaining vehicles. You'll graduate with both a college diploma and credit for all three levels of apprenticeship classroom training. After completing your studies at Northern College and finding an apprenticeship, you won't need to interrupt your work for the standard three-year theoretical training (typically consisting of three eight-week sessions). Diploma holders are often preferred by employers since they eliminate the need for apprentices to take time off for mandatory training. Business owners can maintain operations while you continue gaining experience.
The program includes a valuable 10-week work placement, offering hands-on experience in a real work environment and practical career preparation. Consider this placement an extended working interview that could lead to a full-time apprenticeship position.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
