Every industrial operation worldwide depends on instrumentation technicians to maintain efficiency. Northern's two-year Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technician diploma opens doors to career opportunities across all sectors.
You'll become proficient in the intricate formulas needed to optimize controllers for specific operations. The program also trains you to install, service, evaluate, and fine-tune essential devices that monitor and regulate temperature, pressure, liquid levels, and flow rates.
Throughout the program, you'll sharpen your mathematical, scientific, and analytical abilities. The curriculum covers core electrical and electronic principles, diagnostic methods, and blueprint interpretation.
Whether working with heating systems, manufacturing facilities, or energy stations, you'll become expert in the safety procedures that ensure uninterrupted operations.
All processing industries require precise monitoring and adjustment of variables like heat, pressure, volume, and movement rates. These functions are managed through electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic systems, and computer technology. Instrumentation specialists are responsible for setting up, servicing, inspecting, and calibrating these control and measurement devices. Their role involves collaborating with system designers, resolving control circuit issues, fine-tuning automated systems, and computer programming and diagnostics.
To be eligible you must possess the equivalent of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
Proof of Senior High School Diploma/Certificate with 50% in each equivalents for Mathematics (technical)
English Proficiency (we will require one of the following): IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System – minimum overall score of 6.5 must be achieved, with no individual band score under 6.0; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – Computer based overall minimum score of 88+; PTE (Pearson Test of English) Academic 60+.
