The Master of Arts in History degree includes coursework, a substantial research project, and participation in the yearly Graduate Student Conference. Students can complete this program either through an intensive one-year schedule (Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer terms) or a more flexible three-year option (nine consecutive terms). The curriculum focuses on key historical disciplines: International, Gender, Canadian, European, and Environmental studies. Our distinguished faculty specialize in diverse areas including environmental history, genocide studies, indigenous research, political and diplomatic history, as well as military and intelligence history.‚Äã This program combines academic coursework with a significant research component (MRP), typically finished within twelve months. The MRP allows students to conduct original research while engaging with existing scholarship in their chosen field. This MA program prepares graduates for doctoral studies while enhancing research and writing abilities valuable for various professional paths. A unique aspect is the spring Graduate Student Conference, where participants present their research proposals publicly.
The gender history specialization explores gender dynamics throughout different eras and regions. Researchers analyze how gender concepts influence labor, family structures, religious practices, military institutions, and sexual norms.
