This interdisciplinary program, collaboratively designed by the Department of Mathematics and Computing and the Bissett School of Business, delivers a modern fusion of technology and business education. Over eight academic terms and optional cooperative work placements (up to three), students gain professional computing competencies. The curriculum adheres to global standards set by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IEEE Computer Society (IEEE-CS), while incorporating input from Calgary's business leaders. The outcome is a versatile degree that serves both industry demands and graduates' future adaptability. Today's employers seek tech professionals with diverse capabilities - not just technical expertise but also business acumen, teamwork skills, creative problem-solving, and strong multimedia communication abilities. The program addresses these requirements through a balanced mix of computer science, business studies, communication courses, and liberal arts. Focusing on real-world business applications of computing, students build core competencies in programming, systems analysis, web development, hardware/networking, and essential business operations. Practical experience is emphasized through mandatory cooperative work terms (1-3 placements), allowing students to apply classroom knowledge in professional settings.
