Our graduate program delivers in-depth academic training designed to equip students for careers in research and various STEM fields. We provide both MSc and PhD options, with numerous MSc candidates progressing to doctoral studies. Our department stands out for its interdisciplinary focus, covering nutrition, human metabolism, protein and membrane science, food technology, physiology, and molecular studies of health and disease - including obesity, heart conditions, neurological disorders, cancer, digestive health, and immune function. A distinctive feature is our research into life science education methods. As Science Faculty members, students can work with scholars across diverse disciplines. Memorial University features a cutting-edge Animal Research Center, advancing biomedical studies in the region. Graduates typically pursue academia, industry roles, government positions, or medical careers.
MSc – Students can specialize in Biochemistry or Food Science. This degree combines coursework with thesis research and typically requires two years of full-time commitment.

Applicants shall have completed Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study.
The minimum English proficiency test scores are as follows:
TOEFL: An aggregate score of 80 (92 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
IELTS Academic: An aggregate score of 6.5 (7 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
Duolingo English Test: An aggregate score of 115 (125 for graduate programs with higher English proficiency requirements).
CAEL - A score between 50 and 60 in each of four bands, with at least 2 band scores of 60.
MET: A score of 59%.
PTE Academic - Minimum scores of 58 in each of reading, writing, listening, and speaking
