The iBA program caters to students passionate about examining global trends and international matters through the lens of Humanities and Social Sciences. This curriculum aims to equip learners with crucial knowledge and critical thinking abilities needed for analyzing cultural, economic, political, religious, and societal phenomena across the world.
While both the iBA and traditional BA degrees require 120 credit hours, the iBA stands apart by mandating specialized international studies courses and language training.
As part of the program requirements, students must spend time living abroad through either (1) attending a Memorial University field school or studying at an international institution, or (2) completing a work placement outside Canada.
Religious studies offers an academic approach to understanding faith traditions. This discipline neither promotes nor discredits religious beliefs, but instead explores diverse spiritual expressions throughout history and across cultures. Our program allows examination of major world religions including Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism, while also investigating religious influences in modern culture, arts, rituals, and intersections with science, politics, law, and ethics.
