The Department of Mathematics and Statistics comprises more than 30 faculty members and 80 graduate students. Our distinguished faculty includes 5 University Research Professors (the institution's highest honor) and a Canada Research Chair holder. Several department members have earned Presidential awards for both Research and Teaching excellence. This academic distinction has gained international recognition, with our department ranking #267 globally in Mathematics according to the 2024 U.S. News and World Report University Rankings.
PhD Programs – Our doctoral programs in Mathematics and Statistics involve advanced coursework, a comprehensive two-part examination, and a thesis presenting original, high-quality research. The typical completion time for PhD requirements ranges between three to four years. The program culminates with a final oral examination and thesis defense.
