The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science at Memorial University provides graduate programs with thesis options, culminating in Master of Engineering (MEng) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Computer Engineering.
Students in computer and electrical engineering can utilize diverse engineering software for various applications, including mathematical computations (MAPLE and MATLAB), circuit simulations (SPICE, PSPICE, Electronics Workbench), VLSI and FPGA development (Synopsys, Cadence, Xilinx), and software creation (Rational Rose, Visual Paradigm, Microsoft development tools). Specialized facilities feature the Instrumentation Control and Automation (INCA) Centre, Computer Engineering Research Laboratories (encompassing the Centre for Digital Hardware Applications Research, Software Engineering Research Laboratory, Multimedia Communications and Remote Sensing Laboratory, Computer-Aided Design Laboratory for Analog and Mixed Signal VLSI Systems), along with the Advanced Wireless Communications Research Laboratory (AWCRL) and Power Devices and Systems Laboratory. Additional research resources from industry and government partnerships are also accessible.
Typically requiring three to four years, the PhD program involves two advanced courses beyond the master's level, comprehensive exams, and an extensive research thesis.
