For those passionate about environmental topics and concepts, the environmental humanities diploma presents an excellent opportunity. Recent academic work in this field highlights how examining environmental thought, policies, and cultural aspects is just as crucial as scientific approaches when tackling ecological challenges. This program allows you to explore environmental concerns through diverse disciplines such as philosophy, history, geography, religious studies, sociology, and anthropology.
This concise program consists of 27 credit hours (nine courses total). It provides a solid foundation for BA students seeking an environmental specialization, BSc students with ecological interests, NGO/government professionals aiming to expand their environmental expertise, or community members pursuing knowledge outside formal degree programs. The diploma appeals particularly to graduates aspiring to work in environment-related fields.
Duration: 9 courses (27 credit hours)
Applicants shall have completed the requirements for a recognized high school diploma or equivalent.
English Language Requirements:
Duolingo English Test (DET) - A minimum score of 115.
IELTS - A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with at least a band 6 in reading and writing. General training results are not acceptable.
TOEFL - For admission to winter (Jan) 2025 and later: A minimum score of 83 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition, with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing; For admission to fall (Sept) 2024 and earlier: A minimum score of 79 on the TOEFL iBT or TOEFL iBT Home Edition, with a minimum score of 20 in reading and writing, and not less than 17 in listening and speaking.
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Assessment: For admission to winter (Jan) 2025 and later: A minimum overall score of 60; For admission to fall (Sept) 2024 and earlier: Minimum band scores between 50 and 60 in each of the four skills tested (reading, writing, listening and speaking), with at least two band scores of 60.
PTE Academic: A minimum score of 58 (fall (Sept) 2024); A minimum overall score of 60 ((Jan) 2025 and later).
Cambridge Assessment English: A minimum score of 176 in C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency.
Michigan English Test (MET) - A minimum score of 59 is required on the MELAB.
