Statistics focuses on analyzing data across diverse disciplines such as biology, economics, finance, engineering, environmental science, and medicine, utilizing mathematical methods and probability theory for drawing conclusions. It also serves as valuable preparation for various academic pursuits by developing strong logical thinking skills.
Our department hires undergraduate students for positions in the Math Help Centre and as assignment graders. Selected students may secure summer research positions through National Science and Engineering Research Council funding.
Students can pursue major, minor, or honors programs resulting in either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in statistics. We also provide combined programs in:
biology-statistics (B.Sc. honors)
computer science-statistics (B.Sc. major and honors)
economics-statistics (B.Sc. major)
economics-statistics (B.Sc. major with economics co-op)
pure mathematics-statistics (B.Sc. honors)
