The field of Earth sciences covers all scientific research concerning our planet's formation and evolution, from analyzing surface rocks and soils to studying tectonic plate movements and deep Earth materials. While fieldwork remains crucial, modern geoscientists increasingly rely on advanced tools like ocean drilling ships, satellite data, sophisticated geochemical and geophysical equipment, and cutting-edge electronic and laser microscopy.
Each year, numerous employers recruit our students for both seasonal and full-time roles, with many graduates pursuing careers as professional geoscientists.
Beyond standalone major, minor, and honors programs in Earth sciences, we offer combined degrees in:
Biology and Earth Sciences (B.Sc. honors)
Chemistry and Earth Sciences (B.Sc. honors)
Earth Sciences and Geography (B.Sc. honors)
Earth Sciences and Physics (B.Sc. major and honors)
Geophysics and Physical Oceanography (B.Sc. honors)
Duration: Four years
