Understanding religion is vital for comprehending society, and our Religious Studies Department conducts extensive research spanning both Asian and Western traditions in their historical and contemporary forms.
Since 1964, we've provided graduate programs examining religious phenomena and human spiritual experiences across cultures and time periods. Our department maintains no religious affiliations; instead, we foster respectful understanding of global faith traditions through open inquiry, critical analysis, and well-reasoned evaluation. We employ diverse methodological approaches—including philosophical, philological, literary, historical, and social scientific perspectives—to study religious phenomena.
