The Medical Radiation Sciences (MRSc) program is offered through a collaborative effort between Mohawk College and McMaster University. Established in September 2004, this initiative emerged from conversations between McMaster's Faculty of Science and Mohawk's Medical Imaging department. Both institutions are recognized as pioneers in health sciences education within Ontario, with a proven track record of successful partnerships and educational advancements.
Graduates of the MRSc program become healthcare practitioners who utilize various forms of radiation for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, entering one of healthcare's most rapidly expanding sectors. Participants in this program work toward earning dual qualifications: an Ontario College Advanced Diploma in Medical Radiation Sciences from Mohawk College alongside McMaster University's Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences degree. This innovative approach allows students to obtain both academic credentials concurrently.
The program's curriculum and framework provide a strong grounding in fundamental scientific principles. The MRSc model combines clinical training with academic learning across specialized professional fields, all designed to meet established competency standards. This program cultivates abilities that equip students for continuous, independent learning, positioning them as valuable contributors to the healthcare sector.
Radiography: Features specialized coursework covering radiation physics and safety, radiation biology, human anatomy and pathology, radiographic equipment, imaging techniques, image evaluation, introductory computed tomography (CT scanning), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete Grade 12 high school diploma equivalent to Canadian qualification.
