Launched in September 2000, this pioneering interdisciplinary program empowers students to take charge of their education while acknowledging that both acquired knowledge and developed skills are essential for future academic pursuits or career readiness. The Faculty of Health Sciences prioritizes self-directed learning and balances content mastery with skill development, principles embodied in this program. Furthermore, it upholds the Faculty's longstanding approach of examining health through biological, behavioral, and population-level lenses. Students will engage with experts from across the Faculty and broader university community, gaining exposure to fundamental and applied researchers alongside healthcare professionals, thereby exploring health studies from multiple viewpoints. The program blends small-group, inquiry-driven learning with conventional lectures, labs, and tutorials to establish a robust foundation in health sciences while cultivating critical analysis and information synthesis capabilities.

Deciphering global health's intricate connections demands cross-disciplinary education. The Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program's global health curriculum integrates perspectives from anthropology, philosophy, ethics, and law while leveraging Faculty expertise in biostatistics & epidemiology, health economics & policy, molecular medicine & pathology, and research methodologies. It simultaneously fosters personal growth and academic competencies needed to address worldwide health challenges. Those wishing to specialize in Global Health can select relevant courses through the Interdisciplinary Minor in Globalization Studies, focusing on the Globalization & Health thematic offerings.
