Launched in September 2000, this groundbreaking interdisciplinary program empowers students to take charge of their education while acknowledging that both acquired knowledge and developed skills are essential for pursuing advanced studies or entering professional careers. The Faculty of Health Sciences prioritizes self-directed learning and balances content mastery with skill development, principles that are deeply embedded in this program. Furthermore, the curriculum maintains the Faculty's longstanding approach of examining health through biological, behavioral, and population-level lenses. Students will benefit from instruction by Faculty of Health Sciences members and university-wide experts, gaining insights from both theoretical researchers and practicing healthcare professionals. The program blends inquiry-based small group learning with conventional lectures, labs, and tutorials to establish a strong foundation in health sciences while cultivating critical analysis and information synthesis capabilities.
Built with adaptability in mind, the program accommodates diverse postgraduate pathways including medical science graduate programs, professional schools, or direct career entry. After the foundational year, students can concentrate on specific health disciplines or opt for a more comprehensive academic trajectory during their upper years.
Starting at Level I, the program culminates in a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) degree after completing Level IV. This four-tiered structure allows for specialization through elective choices and individualized research or thesis opportunities.
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete Grade 12 high school diploma equivalent to Canadian qualification.
