The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science provides a thorough examination of political systems, legal frameworks, and governance structures at national and global levels, requiring less intensive study than Honours programs. Students can customize their academic path by choosing either a broad curriculum or concentrating on one of five specializations: Political Theory, Canadian Politics, Comparative Politics, International Relations, or Public Policy. Academically ambitious students may transition to the more rigorous Honours BA program.

This program develops fundamental research techniques, training students to gather and analyze data about political systems, key figures, and current events. Participants will examine academic works, critique viewpoints, and organize information for clear written and oral presentations. With a focus on practical knowledge application, the coursework promotes self-directed investigation, source analysis, and the construction of coherent arguments.

Students refine their communication abilities through diverse approaches, including composing analytical papers, critiquing publications, and engaging in structured dialogues. The program also fosters an understanding of knowledge boundaries, stressing the need for evidence-based assertions and recognizing the complexities in evaluating various political or social science perspectives.

Designed to prepare graduates for careers, advanced education, or civic participation, our curriculum develops the critical thinking and presentation abilities prized in public service, legal professions, political arenas, global affairs, and corporate sectors. These advanced analytical and communication competencies are particularly valued across these disciplines. The program additionally promotes ethical conduct and social accountability, inspiring meaningful involvement in community affairs.
