Studying French at McMaster immerses you in one of Canada's official languages, a global tongue spoken by millions across Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, North America, and Asia. Our "Francophonie et Diversité" focus exposes you to the vibrant literary and cultural heritage of French-speaking societies worldwide.
The Department conducts all instruction and communication in French, accelerating your language proficiency. Annually, we host teaching assistants from France to help refine students' skills. The program also offers an exciting opportunity to spend your third year abroad, studying at a partner university in France or Quebec.
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete Grade 12 high school diploma equivalent to Canadian qualification.
Completion of any Level I program and a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5 including a grade of at least C- in FRENCH 1A06 A/B or FRENCH 2M06 A/B.
