The Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour provides diverse programs catering to students with varying interests and professional aspirations. These programs can be viewed as existing along a continuum.

On one end lie the Applied Psychology in Human Behaviour programs. These Bachelor of Applied Science degrees concentrate on scientifically examining the mind to comprehend human cognition, emotions, and actions. Students explore how to connect fundamental psychological theories, principles, and methodologies to real-world situations, aiming to assist individuals in interpreting, explaining, and modifying behavior. These programs offer the most specialized focus on psychology while being the least research-heavy.

The Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour (PNB) programs occupy the middle ground. More interdisciplinary than Applied Psychology, PNB combines elements from psychology, neuroscience, and animal behavior studies. These research-focused programs emphasize experimental investigation of both human and animal subjects to understand mental processes, nervous system functions, and survival mechanisms.

Further along the interdisciplinary spectrum is the BioPNB program. This Combined Honours degree requires students to major in both PNB and Biology, resulting in more extensive requirements than either Applied Psychology or standard PNB programs.

Our most interdisciplinary offering is the Neuroscience program. Neuroscience students build robust foundations in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics, alongside comprehensive training in molecular, cellular, and systems neuroscience. This program prepares students for neuroscience research careers or other fields requiring strong interdisciplinary scientific knowledge.
