As a performance major, you focus on mastering an instrument while building your repertoire, technical skills, and artistic style through solo practice, weekly ensemble rehearsals, and live performances. You'll get one-on-one instruction for your primary instrument and gain experience creating arrangements with diverse musical components.
Specialization options in the performance program cover: bass (both upright and electric), drums/percussion, electric guitar, piano, vocals, wind instruments, brass, or strings. The curriculum also delves into music business, cultural studies, historical contexts, and theoretical foundations. Additional electives include recording arts, music technology, and composition for film.
Applicants must have a minimum overall average of 65 percent, with no course grade lower than 50 percent, in the following high school courses- ELA 30-1 or 75% in ELA 30-2 Four subjects from Group A, B, C or D courses.
