Langara provides career entry options in just nine months, along with university transfer opportunities to finish a bachelor's degree. Our 9-month Social Service Worker Certificate program equips students for direct employment across social service fields while also laying the foundation for advanced studies in Social Work and related helping professions. Working in social services demands significant physical and emotional investment. Students progress through the program as a cohesive group, with all core courses taught by dedicated program instructors. This creates an engaging, hands-on learning atmosphere and fosters valuable professional connections that extend beyond graduation. The certificate requires two semesters of full-time study, featuring two practicum placements - including an intensive five-week block placement concluding the second semester. Graduates receive a Social Service Worker Certificate upon successful completion. Note: All applicants must now undergo a Criminal Record Check; additional details are available under the admission requirements section.
