From aspiring astronauts to accountants, social workers to scientists, marketers to nurses, educators to engineers, managers to computer scientists – nearly every profession relies on mathematics and/or statistics. These disciplines touch every aspect of daily life, whether you're evaluating stock trends, interpreting news reports, or relying on the structural integrity of bridges. We aim to equip all students with both practical skills and an appreciation for the elegance, usefulness, and enjoyment found in mathematical and statistical concepts.

The majority of Langara students will enroll in at least one Mathematics or Statistics course during their studies, whether to fulfill program requirements or pursue personal interest. Our institution provides diverse course options in these fields, with many qualifying for university transfer credit toward bachelor's degrees. We offer specialized courses for those who didn't study math at the secondary level. Langara's Mathematics Department boasts a strong reputation for preparing students to excel at institutions like UBC and SFU. Our graduates often thrive in upper-level university courses thanks to our supportive learning environment featuring smaller classes, more instructional hours, and accessible faculty who ease the transition to university studies.
