This intensive program prepares students to fulfill the evolving demands of industries for qualified professionals. Graduates holding an Engineering Technology, Engineering, or Science Degree in Physics or Chemistry can obtain an advanced technical diploma in instrumentation and control more quickly than through the standard Instrumentation & Control Engineering Technology program. Delivered over seven terms, including three optional co-op placements, this accelerated path contrasts with the nine-term duration of the regular three-year program. Participants gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting diverse control systems, which manage various industrial processes. Instrumentation tools like transmitters and switches monitor critical variables (such as temperature, pressure, flow, and composition) across industrial, commercial, and residential settings, while final control elements like valves, heaters, and motors adjust processes to maintain stability. Instruction takes place in Lambton College’s modernized Centre of Excellence in Energy & Bio-Industrial Technologies, featuring cutting-edge labs and infrastructure that support learning and industry-aligned research. The program’s labs simulate real-world manufacturing settings, with technologies that can be directly applied in operational facilities. Additionally, students gain practical experience through three co-op terms in relevant industries.
