This program addresses the need in both academic and professional sectors for highly skilled experts in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Designed for graduates of Lakehead University's Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering undergraduate programs, as well as graduates from other institutions, the program cultivates students' independent research skills. These goals are accomplished through coursework and thesis research.
Choosing to pursue a Master of Science in Engineering (MSc Eng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lakehead University opens doors to a promising future. Our curriculum enables students to gain specialized expertise by blending academic coursework with hands-on research. MSc Eng candidates collaborate with top-tier researchers and institutions, utilizing cutting-edge facilities within a supportive academic community. With small class sizes and strong faculty-student engagement, we create an ideal setting for academic achievement. The program features three degree pathways:
The thesis track enhances students' independent research capabilities through coursework and investigative work. This pathway suits those aiming for doctoral studies or research-focused industry careers. Full-time enrollment is mandatory for thesis students.
Alternatively, two course-based options are available, combining advanced coursework with either a research project or paper. These routes provide comprehensive exposure to cutting-edge topics while allowing students to undertake research projects or explore new engineering fields through academic papers. Both full-time and flexible study plans are offered for course-based students.
