Psychologists aim to enhance human well-being by studying and shaping how people think, feel, and act. They examine our motivations, the social and biological influences on behavior, and what distinguishes individuals. Lakehead University's Psychology program offers a multidisciplinary perspective, allowing students to investigate these themes through either an Arts or Science track based on their academic preferences. Regardless of the chosen path, graduates acquire analytical skills to formulate theories, conduct scientific experiments, and advance knowledge through rigorous research. What distinguishes our program is its comprehensive scope—students engage with all core areas of psychology, including Biological, Cognitive-Affective, Individual, Social, Abnormal, and Developmental studies, alongside specialized electives.
We emphasize that adaptable learning leads to diverse career opportunities. Students can combine Psychology with disciplines like Gerontology, Philosophy, Women's Studies, or Education to examine their interconnectedness. Many of our faculty members are active clinical psychologists with extensive expertise, offering students early access to research and hands-on experiences from their first year.
