Known as the "central science," chemistry examines how matter behaves and the fundamental components that make up all substances. Its importance and uses range from utilizing Earth's mineral deposits to creating pharmaceuticals and beauty products.
As a Chemistry student, you'll get to investigate diverse branches of the field, including: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Medical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Theoretical Chemistry. Our Chemistry Department boasts excellent teaching and research resources, with small class sizes to provide personalized support. Along with expert faculty guidance, you'll utilize cutting-edge research equipment in our state-of-the-art facilities like the Lakehead University Instrumentation Lab.
Given chemistry's interdisciplinary character, we motivate students to follow their passions in this and other core sciences. Beyond a Chemistry degree, you can pair your studies with Biology, Education, or a Medical Sciences Specialization.
