Sociology views all human actions as socially influenced. As a Sociology student at Lakehead University, you'll explore social dynamics, transformations, and the societal factors shaping behavior. Coursework examines diverse subjects like healthcare systems, legal frameworks, criminal behavior, cultural trends, technological impacts, educational structures, and social disparities. You'll engage with foundational sociological theories alongside modern perspectives on contemporary society. The program equips students with research methodologies, including survey design, interview techniques, and data analysis. Faculty members conduct research across multiple fields, including health studies, media analysis, gender research, aging studies, educational systems, legal institutions, and regional studies of Northwestern Ontario.
