Anthropology offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary exploration of human life across time and cultures. As an Anthropology student, you'll examine diverse subjects ranging from ancient stone tools and bone remains to modern economic systems and regional speech patterns. Our Anthropology Department features four specialized branches: Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Linguistic Anthropology, and Socio-Cultural Anthropology.
Our curriculum combines classroom instruction with seminars, laboratory work, and field studies to give you balanced training in both theoretical concepts and practical skills. You'll work in state-of-the-art research facilities and study exceptional anthropological collections that have supported major discoveries and been used by leading experts worldwide.
Our internationally recognized faculty conduct cutting-edge research, creating exceptional undergraduate research possibilities. They frequently mentor students through specialized courses and projects, with many undergraduates presenting their work at national archaeology conferences and making early career impacts. We also offer summer field schools for practical training in excavation techniques, lab procedures, artifact analysis, and site mapping. While most field schools operate in Northwestern Ontario, we collaborate with institutions in Croatia, Israel, and Italy for those seeking international study experiences.
