This nine-month course equips students with the skills needed for careers in appliance repair. Participants will master troubleshooting and fixing issues in large and small home appliances by consulting customers, inspecting controls, interpreting wiring diagrams, and using hand tools. The curriculum also covers essential knowledge for obtaining BC's Provincial "C" Gas Certificate. Students gain hands-on experience through a practicum working alongside professional technicians.
Graduates earn credit toward Foundation (Level 1), Level 2, and Level 3 of the Appliance Service Technician apprenticeship program, plus 525 practical work hours. The program qualifies participants to take both the Certificate of Completion (COC) and Red Seal Inter-provincial exams. After completing 7,200 work hours, students receive the nationally recognized Red Seal certification valid across all Canadian provinces and territories.
High School: A graduate of a BC secondary school or an equivalent school system.
The English proficiency requirement for vocational studies varies by program.
