Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) might qualify for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) if they possess experience matching course objectives or have undertaken continuing education in relevant liberal arts subjects related to nursing. Students are responsible for covering PLA expenses. Upon completing the program, graduates will be equipped to work as both team participants and supervisors in diverse mental health environments such as forensic psychiatric units, addiction treatment centers, hospitals (acute, intermediate, and long-term care), clinics, home healthcare providers, and community health organizations.

Qualification Requirements

In addition to the Faculty's Admission Requirements, which consist of KPU's undergraduate English Proficiency Requirement, the following program admission requirements apply:

Successful completion of a recognized undergraduate Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, with a minimum of 90 credits.
3 credits of undergraduate English (ENGL)
Proof of practicing membership (with no conditions) with The British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP), which must remain current throughout the program.
Valid Canadian CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Health Care Provider (HCP) (Note: CPR certification must remain current throughout the program.)
An interview and/or letter of reference, if requested.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test: overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum 6.0 in each band, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): iBT 88 or higher, with no sub score less than 20, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
