Many people believe our social, political, and personal perspectives are merely inherited - either through genetics or socioeconomic circumstances. Philosophy challenges this notion, showing that we actively shape our lives and realities through our decisions, language, conceptual frameworks, ideas, and social interactions.
King's philosophy program provides a broad curriculum with options to specialize in global philosophies and cultures or social/political theory. Following humanistic and personalist teaching approaches, our courses cultivate analytical reasoning, deep reading comprehension, persuasive argumentation, and most importantly, philosophical contemplation and understanding. The distinctive first-year philosophy requirement for all majors not only strengthens fundamental philosophical skills but also fosters collaborative learning communities among students.
