As Ontario's sole program of this nature, the Forensic Identification graduate certificate equips students with cutting-edge forensic expertise for careers in both public and private law enforcement and laboratory settings. Tailored for aspiring frontline investigators, this distinctive program offers practical, hands-on training delivered by specialists using the latest forensic technologies through a specialized course structure. The curriculum covers sophisticated fingerprint enhancement and interpretation, footwear and tool mark comparisons, DNA and bloodstain pattern analysis, counterfeit document assessment, homicide investigations, crime and disaster scene protocols, evidentiary regulations, and courtroom procedures.
Instruction occurs in our advanced crime scene simulation center and forensic laboratory at Humber's Centre for Justice Leadership. This pioneering facility includes a mock crime scene lab for processing forensic evidence through photography, fingerprint enhancement, specialized evidence gathering methods, and digital scene reconstruction. The Center also provides four specialized interview rooms for refining interrogation techniques. Ultimately, students demonstrate their forensic investigation competencies in our simulated courtroom environment.
