Humber's Furniture and Cabinetmaking Techniques program equips you with essential expertise to craft traditional furniture and install standard cabinetry following industry-approved methods. The curriculum covers diverse joinery methods and building approaches, employing hand tools, power equipment, stationary machinery, and digital technologies in a hands-on project format. After earning this certificate, graduates may advance to Semester 3 of the Industrial Woodworking Diploma program.
Employer demand for our alumni has consistently increased since the program's inception. Our thorough curriculum delivers fundamental woodworking skills, readying students for careers across multiple sectors such as retail fixtures, architectural woodwork (doors and windows), kitchen cabinetry manufacturing, and furniture production.
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
Grade 12 Mathematics (MAP4C, MCT4C, MDM4U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MCV4U or MHF4U or equivalent)
Two Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above
or
Mature student status
or
College or university transfer status
CAEL Online or In-Person: Overall band score of 60; Cambridge English Tests Minimum FCE/CAE/CPE Score -> Minimum B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency Score: B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) ; Duolingo Language Test+: 105 and above+ ; IELTS Academic Level: Overall 6.0 AND No band below 5.5; MET: 56; PTE: 53 - 57; TOEFL Academic Level: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 (20L, 20W, 20S, 20R) for internet-based test
