Fashion is a global industry, and Humber's Fashion Arts and Business diploma program focuses on retail operations from both local and worldwide viewpoints. You'll explore marketing, store design and merchandising, brand management, digital marketing, social media strategies, event coordination, and retail purchasing. Additionally, you'll master fashion trend prediction, selling methods, and color/style evaluation while gaining fundamental knowledge of fashion products and promotional techniques. These abilities are then implemented in product debuts, merchandise selection planning, fashion photo styling, and organizing fashion events.
Our advisory board regularly evaluates and contributes to curriculum updates, keeping our program at the forefront of industry advancements. First-year studies cover fashion business essentials - marketing approaches, product expertise, trend analysis, and online merchandising - offering students a comprehensive understanding of this billion-dollar sector. Second-year students enhance these foundational skills through wholesale sales, retail purchasing and management, photographic styling, and event organization with budgeting.
Toronto boasts a thriving fashion industry. The Toronto Star reports that retail fashion alone produces $2.6 billion in yearly sales across the GTA's 4,600 fashion outlets. Fashion careers provide diverse possibilities, including positions as purchasers, assistant buyers, planners, retail marketing directors, mall administrators, or cosmetic account executives. Wholesale opportunities include sales representation for clothing, accessories, or beauty products. Graduates may also become fashion event organizers, shopping center promoters, visual display experts, inventory distributors, purchasing agents, or marketing support for designers and producers. Entrepreneurial paths include independent photo styling, personal image advising, and event management services.
