Humber's Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma program equips you to work with children from infancy to age 12 and their families. The program helps students develop and surpass the practical skills, knowledge, and professional attitudes that employers value in ECE graduates. Through cutting-edge learning methods and simulation exercises, students learn to support children, families, and communities. These hands-on opportunities occur in Humber's Carol Reid Early Childhood Education Lab and the Humber Child Development Center, where students engage with our beautiful arboretum, nature-based playground, and explore inclusive teaching approaches and innovative curriculum design.
We emphasize that substantial professional experience is crucial for students to thrive as certified early childhood educators. Throughout the program, students participate in fieldwork and must complete roughly 500-600 hours of practical experience across three semesters. Current research, industry developments, and collaborative efforts between government and community organizations highlight the lasting advantages of investing in early childhood education. Our graduates enter the field fully prepared with the expertise and hands-on training needed to become adaptable, inclusive educators.
