Humber's Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design cultivates innovative and strategic designers capable of implementing diverse visual communication approaches across digital platforms like web and screen interfaces, user interaction systems, motion graphics, and conventional print media.
Blending theoretical knowledge with practical application, you'll merge artistic vision with design principles to craft distinctive visual solutions. The curriculum covers creative strategy development, typography, editorial layout, packaging design, UX/UI principles, web development, information architecture, and motion graphics. You'll also gain professional business skills and entrepreneurial knowledge to build a complete skillset for employment or freelance opportunities.
As part of the interaction and design core curriculum, you'll master industry-standard tools, technologies, and contemporary design software. Your initial semester is shared with the Multimedia Design and Development program, providing exposure to various design disciplines and foundational programming concepts. This broad introduction helps you explore different specializations before selecting your focus area for second-year studies.
To be eligible for admission, you must possess the following:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:
Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U or equivalent)
Three Grade 11 or Grade 12 C, M or U courses in addition to those listed above
or
Mature student status
or
College or university transfer status
CAEL Online or In-Person: Overall band score of 60; Cambridge English Tests Minimum FCE/CAE/CPE Score -> Minimum B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency Score: B2 First / C1 Advanced / C2 Proficiency 169 (with no single subscore below 162) ; Duolingo Language Test+: 105 and above+ ; IELTS Academic Level: Overall 6.0 AND No band below 5.5; MET: 56; PTE: 53 - 57; TOEFL Academic Level: 550 for paper-based test OR 80 (20L, 20W, 20S, 20R) for internet-based test
