Working as a practical nurse involves delivering standard patient care under the guidance of registered nurses or physicians, assisting those who are ill, injured, or have disabilities. The curriculum includes in-depth study of anatomy, physiology, nursing basics, and medication science, complemented by hands-on clinical training. Before completing the program, you'll undertake a 160-hour practicum at a healthcare facility, supervised by an experienced practical nurse, gaining valuable workplace skills and networking opportunities with potential employers. To practice in Canada, practical nurses require licensure. After graduating, you'll be prepared to take the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE) to obtain your initial license.
