This program helps Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) strengthen their expertise in Ontario's complex healthcare settings through theoretical learning and clinical skill development. Patients with complex needs typically experience multiple chronic illnesses, mental health issues, medication interactions, and social challenges. Through an interprofessional framework, participants examine and apply advanced concepts involving ethics, law, pharmacology, comprehensive health assessments, mental health nursing, complex medical cases, clinical judgment, effective communication, and cultural competency. Seasoned nursing educators employ diverse interactive teaching techniques, such as simulation labs and clinical placements, to help IENs deepen their knowledge of Canadian healthcare and Ontario's nursing standards.
To ensure high-quality practical experience, students will complete placements across different healthcare environments. Participants must arrange their own transportation for clinical rotations.
