Students build and refine professional skills for careers in construction and renovation. They gain hands-on experience with site preparation, concrete forms, structural framing, demolition work, remodeling projects, and both interior/exterior finishing using sustainable methods. The program covers essential safety protocols, building regulations, blueprint interpretation, energy conservation, and eco-friendly approaches. Participants study how to apply Ontario's Building Code to remodeling projects and new builds, with an emphasis on housing construction. Foundational business concepts for self-employment are introduced. Alumni find rewarding positions across residential, commercial, and industrial construction sectors, including renovation specialties. Career paths may lead to roles such as Construction Carpenter, Structural Framer, Concrete Form Builder, Home Remodeler, or Finish Carpenter. Students can explore qualification for apprenticeship credits toward the General Carpentry trade certification through the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. Those seeking advanced specialization may pursue further training in Cabinet Fabrication, Construction Inspection, Space Planning, or Architectural Design.
