Students train to become oral health professionals focused on promoting wellness, preventing disease, and delivering therapeutic treatments. The curriculum covers dental hygiene principles, biomedical sciences, and hands-on clinical training. Learners also develop expertise in professional ethics, effective communication, health advocacy, and evidence-based practice. Beginning in simulated environments, students progressively transition to real patient care while receiving guidance. Supervised clinical experiences occur both in campus clinics and community settings. The program equips graduates to serve diverse populations across all age groups with varying oral health needs. Upon completion, students meet the qualifications to practice as licensed dental hygienists in Ontario. Career paths include traditional dental offices, independent practice ownership, or roles in research, public health, administration, and corporate environments within the oral healthcare field.
