Pharmacy technicians serve as vital members of healthcare teams, contributing significantly to prescription processing and medication distribution. They partner with pharmacists and medical professionals to enhance patient care. In this role, you'll assist pharmacists in achieving optimal medication results, handling tasks ranging from prescription preparation to patient education on medical devices, organizing health clinics, medication reconciliation, and managing inventory. These professionals work alongside pharmacy staff and healthcare providers to maintain consistent patient care.
Fleming College's Pharmacy Technician program holds Full Accreditation from the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). This accreditation ensures graduates meet national standards and qualify to take the pharmacy technician certification exam. Practical placements form a crucial part of the program, requiring students to travel beyond Peterborough for high-quality training opportunities. These placements consist of two four-week sessions, allowing time for travel planning. Hospital placement schedules may adjust based on facility needs, potentially extending beyond regular semester dates.
