The Fitness and Health Promotion program equips you with the skills needed to become a fitness and health advisor. With growing public interest in wellness, there's increasing need for certified fitness experts. The curriculum's four focus areas help students obtain valuable industry certifications outside the program. Instructors will advise on various certification options suitable for fitness and health careers. Across four terms, you'll build expertise in exercise evaluation and planning, nutrition, wellness promotion, leadership growth, business strategies, and lifestyle coaching. Practical work placements let you gain real-world experience under expert supervision in the fitness field. These placements can be customized to align with your professional aspirations or academic goals. Past students have secured placements at hospitals, corporate offices, gyms, chiropractic clinics, rehabilitation centers, and charities like Diabetes Canada and Osteoporosis Canada. Small class sizes ensure personalized attention, while cutting-edge facilities - including the modern Peterborough Sport and Wellness Center on campus - provide top-tier learning environments with advanced equipment and technology.
