This program offers extensive practical environmental training alongside classroom instruction, equipping you with the skills to assess and enhance natural ecosystems. Our Environmental Technician program holds accreditation from the Canadian Environmental Accreditation Commission (CEAC), a committee of Environmental Careers Organization (ECO) Canada. Participants can pursue various ECO Canada certifications, such as Environmental Professional (EP) and Environmental Professional-in-Training (EPt). Those completing the Water Treatment and Pollution Control course and passing its certification exam will fulfill the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Control (MOECC) requirements for the Entry-Level Drinking Water Operator course - a mandatory qualification for water treatment employment. Fleming College collaborates with the Ministry of the Environment and Walkerton Clean Water Center to deliver this training. Additionally, students earn four MOECC Operator-in-Training certificates (OITs) covering Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, and Wastewater Collection - essential credentials for careers in water and wastewater management.
