With worldwide species diversity declining due to habitat loss, disease, and climate change, animal conservation biology has become increasingly vital. This Conservation Biology program directly tackles these challenges – standing as Ontario's sole diploma program dedicated exclusively to hands-on skills and research in animal biodiversity preservation. Throughout the program, you will: Gain comprehensive knowledge in animal biodiversity conservation, Participate in specialized fieldwork and laboratory activities focused on species preservation, Conduct genetic and tissue sampling with an emphasis on eDNA techniques, Acquire expertise in recognizing threatened aquatic and terrestrial species while evaluating their risk factors, Perform ecological surveys, and complete a practical research project in your final semester.
