Fanshawe College's 3D Animation and Character Design program is an intensive 8-month graduate certificate that transforms existing multimedia expertise into highly marketable skills. Bring your creative visions to life through game engine development by mastering life drawing, storyboarding, 3D modeling, texture mapping, lighting techniques, character creation, video editing, and sound design. You'll refine your artistic concepts while gaining essential project planning and management skills.
Upon completion, graduates can pursue careers as 3D animators, character designers, effects specialists, storyboard artists, or level designers across film, video, animation, and gaming industries. Career opportunities also include creating television commercials, corporate videos, educational content, as well as architectural visualization and real estate marketing.

This two-term Graduate Certificate program enhances students' existing technical knowledge. Graduates will master all aspects of 3D character animation for game engines, including: life drawing, storyboarding, 3D modeling, animation techniques, shaders, texture mapping, lighting, character design, video editing, and audio effects. The curriculum emphasizes concept development, teamwork, strategic planning, and project management as core components.

English Language Requirements:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years.
Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years.
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 53, with test results within the last two years.
A Cambridge English Test (FCE/CAE/CPE) with an overall score on the Cambridge English Scale of 169 with no language skill less than 162, with test results within the last two years.
