For those with a passion for photography, transform your talent into a flourishing creative career through Fanshawe's Photography program. Gain essential technical expertise and practical experience to excel as a professional photographer. Our alumni pursue careers in diverse fields including architectural photography, advertising, culinary arts, fashion, weddings, portraiture, and event coverage.
This comprehensive program equips students with professional training for the photography industry. The curriculum covers foundational video and audio recording techniques using DSLR cameras, along with production work in both black-and-white and color digital printing. High-performance laptops, digital imaging tools, and video editing software are fully integrated into coursework. Additional valuable courses in videography, business strategy, portfolio building, and social media marketing provide crucial skills for photographic success. Industry-experienced instructors guide students in mastering camera operation, lighting techniques, and editing software to produce marketable, high-quality imagery. A balanced approach of practical assignments and theoretical knowledge prepares students for diverse photographic scenarios.
Students benefit from extensive resources including 24/7 access to six professional studios and Photo Loans' inventory of premium lenses, lighting gear, and medium format cameras. Since many projects involve tethered shooting and digital editing, tuition includes a MacBook Pro and Adobe Creative Cloud subscription (students retain the laptop post-graduation). Required personal equipment includes an HD-capable DSLR camera, compatible external flash, tripod, and minimum 2TB external hard drive. The CONNECT fee (detailed in the Fee Schedule) covers academic-year laptop usage, curriculum delivery expenses, specialized software, on-site technical support, and other program-related technology costs.
