The Fitness and Health Promotion program is a two-year Ontario college diploma designed for those pursuing careers in the fitness sector. This curriculum covers essential topics including human anatomy, nutrition fundamentals, fitness principles, sports injuries, and personal training techniques. Graduates will be qualified to work as fitness advisors or personal trainers.Students enrolled in this health and wellness program will explore exercise science through courses in human biology, dietary science, fitness methodologies, strength training, exercise physiology, sports injuries, and client training. The program also incorporates business-focused health courses to develop skills necessary for managing fitness facilities or launching your own enterprise. Practical learning opportunities are available at Fanshawe's campus fitness center, along with two substantial work placements with program-affiliated employers.Upon earning your health promotion diploma, career opportunities include positions with commercial fitness centers, nonprofit organizations, rehabilitation providers, government wellness initiatives, youth services, and more. For those considering advanced education, this program serves as excellent preparation for degrees in kinesiology or nutrition, with established transfer pathways including an agreement with Hartpury College in England.The program equips graduates with the expertise to serve as fitness consultants and personal trainers. Fanshawe's faculty comprises industry experts with specialized knowledge in exercise programming, health evaluations, behavioral modification, fitness business operations, sports nutrition, and community health initiatives.Program alumni can pursue careers with diverse organizations such as community centers, commercial fitness facilities, law enforcement fitness testing programs, corporate wellness providers, and specialized training studios, where they'll apply their skills to foster active lifestyles and improve physical fitness.
OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:

- Grade 11 or Grade 12 Biology (C) or (U) OR Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (U)

General Arts and Science Ontario College Certificate AND:
- minimum final grade of 'C+' or 65 in the required courses stated above

Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) WITH:
- The combined Language Arts - Reading AND Language Arts - Writing test results having a minimum average Standard Score of 520 AND:
- Grade 11 or Grade 12 Biology (C) or (U) OR Grade 12 Introductory Kinesiology (U)
