This accounting co-op program provides foundational knowledge of accounting principles and concepts. You'll develop the ability to assess business operations from various perspectives while leveraging your individual strengths. Industry experts will guide you through bookkeeping practices for manufacturing, retail, banking, and financial sectors. Additionally, you'll master financial analysis techniques using modern accounting software for public accounting firms and government agencies at all levels.
Structured to equip graduates for entry-to-mid-level accounting positions, this program begins with core accounting basics before advancing to specialized principles and computerized accounting systems.
Upon completion, you'll possess the necessary competencies to thrive in corporate accounting roles across diverse sectors such as manufacturing, retail, banking, and finance. Your training will also qualify you for positions in public accounting firms and government offices at federal, provincial, and municipal levels. The included paid co-op placement offers practical work experience to complement your academic learning.
The Business Accounting (Co-Op) program enables students to acquire real-world experience in their professional field. Below are examples of co-op positions that have launched careers for Business Accounting (Co-Op) students prior to graduation.
OSSD with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (M), or Open (O) stream WITH:
- Any Grade 12 English (C) or (U)
- Mathematics* ONE OF:
- Any Grade 12 Mathematics (C) or (U)
- Any Grade 11 Mathematics (C), (U), or (M)
(Note: a minimum final grade of 60 required for any Grade 11 Mathematics course) or Academic and Career Entrance Certificate (ACE) or Ontario High School Equivalency Certificate or Mature Applicant with standing in the required courses and grade stated above.
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:
