The Aircraft Structural Repair Technician program immerses students in the dynamic field of aviation maintenance. Participants will acquire skills in repairing, refurbishing, and altering commercial aircraft. This one-year Ontario College Certificate equips graduates for roles in maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities. The practical, project-focused training covers material and component assembly, fabrication, manufacturing, and repair techniques while meeting stringent aviation safety standards. As a Transport Canada-approved curriculum (TC-2019-09-4268), successful students can apply 10 months toward obtaining an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License, Category S. Graduates will be ready for employment with both domestic and international aircraft service providers. Career Pathways Fanshawe's Transport Canada-certified program (TC-2019-09-4268) provides graduates with 10 months' credit toward an AME "S" license. Program Competencies Execute both minor and extensive maintenance, fabrication, and structural repairs on various aircraft types using specialized tools; Identify issues in metallic/composite structures and components by analyzing technical documentation and safety standards; Implement airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and engineering modifications; Disassemble and reconstruct airframes for repair purposes; Assess structural conditions to prevent additional damage during maintenance; Create detailed damage reports, repair plans, and technical sketches; Apply modern composite and sheet metal fabrication methods; Calculate weight distribution for proper aircraft operation; Follow technical manuals, schematics, and digital resources when performing maintenance tasks; Document all inspections, repairs, and certifications according to industry regulations.

Students who do not meet the admission requirements are recommended for academic upgrading. A conditional offer may be possible with proof of enrolment. Alternatively, applicants may choose to do the one-year preparatory program, Pre-Technology, that provides all the admission requirements for this program.
