The Massage Therapy (Accelerated) program is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma condensed into two intensive years. This program teaches students to preserve, restore, and enhance physical function while alleviating pain. Hands-on experience in the student-operated clinic allows learners to refine their techniques. Graduates will enter the profession with solid theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in massage therapy.
Acquiring the dynamic skills needed to support the body's healing process is fundamental in healthcare. If you're passionate about delivering meaningful massage therapy to those requiring care, submit your application today. Within just two years, you'll be prepared to practice as a licensed massage therapist after passing provincial certification exams.
Emphasizing medical understanding, you'll perfect your massage abilities in the student clinic, exploring various hands-on methods. You'll gain direct experience in evaluating clients' needs while learning techniques to preserve, restore, and improve physical function for pain relief. The curriculum covers massage theory and diverse techniques including sports, clinical, therapeutic, and prenatal massage.
Fanshawe College's Massage Therapy program adheres to the standards set by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO), while exceeding basic curriculum requirements. With its medical focus, the program offers numerous educational experiences.
Expert instructors deliver top-tier training, teaching students to "assess soft tissue and joints, then treat and prevent physical dysfunction and pain through manipulation techniques that develop, maintain, rehabilitate, or enhance physical function, or relieve pain," as defined by Ontario's Massage Therapy Act.
The program balances theory with practice, introducing students to essential massage therapy skills from the first semester. Additional therapeutic methods are covered, including sports, clinical, and prenatal massage techniques.
