Approved by the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA), the Fourth Class Power Engineering Techniques program provides foundational knowledge in power generation and facility operations through both classroom instruction and hands-on practice. Students will put theoretical concepts into action within Durham College's advanced certified Power Plant and electrical laboratories, developing skills to safely and effectively manage equipment while acquiring practical experience. Graduates may qualify for a nine-month reduction in required steam time experience. Furthermore, those who pass both TSSA examinations and complete three months of field work become eligible for their Fourth Class Operating Engineer certification.
